I
was born on July 4th, 1943, in a small town south of Dallas called
Palmer, TX. After a couple of moves, at the age of 2, we moved
to Wilmer, TX on the farm. I lived there for the next 17 years.
My dad was a farmer and I spent many hours on a tractor or
a combine. We had neighbors, but they were a couple of miles
away. As a result, I played by myself, with my dog, or rode
my horse. As was our custom, we went to church(Baptist) every
time the doors were open. I was the one every one wanted to
get saved. But I wanted this to be real in my life, not like
some I had seen who were Sunday only christians. The word
would be hypocrite. I guess you would say I was the black
sheep, so to speak, of my family. As I look back I can see
many times how God worked in my life. You see, God has a plan
for all of us, if we will just seek the Kingdom of God. Well,
at age 20, I knew the Spirit was working in me and I received Jesus
into my heart. I was not at church but at friends' house.
I was water baptized fortunately by a preacher that read to me about
baptism from Romans chapter 6. Did I understand this?
Certainly not completely. But, at least I had a starting
place.
Through
my years in high school, I was involved in athletics. As a
result, I won a scholarship in track and field to East Texas State
University. The Fall before I graduated, I met Kay my wife.
We were married in August of 1966. We have 3 children Coy
(wife Anisa), Ty(wife Kelli), and Kit. Now we have 9 grandchildren,
from 2 to 16 years of age.
The
first 14 years of our marriage, we attended a couple of Baptist
churches where I was a deacon for several years. I was a Sunday
school teacher and was involved in a singing group that traveled
around the South and gave mini concerts. At age 37 we realized we
were getting nothing out of "church". At about the
same time, I became very oppressed by the Devil. I went through
some very heavy deliverance and overcame a great deal. I knew
I was missing something and I knew what it was. It was the
baptism of the Holy Spirit. I received the baptism about midnight
in May of 1980. Shortly thereafter I met Doyle Davidson and
started attending Water of Life Ministries. From that point
on, Jesus began to change my life and has continued to do so ever
since.
Through
this Web site I hope to share with you many of the overcomings of
the past and present, as well as other things the Spirit leads me
to speak.
